Disappointing Viewing Figures

Last night’s broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest’s Greatest Hits was watched by just 1.89 million viewers to BBC One.

In the 9pm time slot it was Channel Four’s “Gogglebox” that brought in the largest number of viewers 3.6 million, with the Greatest Hits show having a market share of just 9.5%. 1.9 million is a fraction of the peak audience of last years Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen which hit 11.5 million viewers. Furthermore the viewing figure for last nights broadcast is 1 million lower than the 2010 national selection final in the United Kingdom “Eurovision: Your Country Needs You”.

The show did however have a large impact on social media, becoming the number 1 trending topic in the United Kingdom during its broadcast.
