Sinan Cost Turkey A Lot Of Points
Sinan Cost Turkey A Lot Of Points

Turkey’s juror at this years Turkvizyon may have a lot to explain when he returns home as he may have been responsible for Turkey plummeting from 2nd on Wednesday to last tonight. Sinan Akçıl was this years juror for Turkey, but he was also the man behind this years competing song for Turkey “Hoppa” sung by Funda.

We’ve done some maths and looked back at the results and can prove that a number of countries turned on Turkey due to being given poor points in the semi final. Take a look below:

  • Albania scores 5 in the semi final, gave Turkey 9 in the semi final, in the final Turkey get 1 point. Loss of 8 points.
  • Bosnia scores 1 in the semi final, gave Turkey 10 in the semi final, in the final Turkey get 1 point. Loss of 9 points.
  • Bulgaria scores 1 in the semi final, gave Turkey 8 in the semi final, in the final Turkey get 1 point. Loss of 7 points.
  • Germany scores 6 in the semi final, gave Turkey 10 in the semi final, in the final Turkey gets 6 points. Loss of 4 points.
  • Iraq scores 3 in the semi final, gave Turkey 10 in the semi final, in the final Turkey gets 5 points. Loss of 5 points.
  • Khakassia scores 3 in the semi final, gave Turkey 10 in the semi final, in the final Turkey gets 3 points. Loss of 7 points.
  • Kazakhstan scores 1 in the semi final, gave Turkey 6 in the semi final, in the final Turkey gets 1 point. Loss of 5 points.
  • Macedonia scores 3 in the semi final, gave Turkey 10 in the semi final, in the final Turkey gets 3 points. Loss of 7 points.
  • Yakutia scores 1 in the semi final, gave Turkey 9 in the semi final, in the final Turkey gets 1 point. Loss of 8 points.
  • Tuva scores 2 in the semi final, gave Turkey 7 in the semi final, in the final Turkey scores 2 points. Loss of 5 points.

It is quite clear in the cases of Bosnia, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Yakutia that they cannot simply have suddenly not liked the performance, there is too significant of a change for it to be explained in that way. These four countries are clearly returning their annoyance at being given just 1 point. Furthermore Albania and Bulgaria join the other Balkan participants in either copying what Turkey gave them or giving them 1 point.

    1. Just adding I would of thought he would of given more points to Albania (since that was a similar style to his music) and maybe Bulgaria. Maybe the 1’s were supposed to be 10’s? Him giving Kazakhstan one point seems pretty strategic.

  1. Turkiye deserved it! I am Turkish and did not like our entry. The worse thing than song, is juror! Sinan Akçıl has an annoying voice and does not have a musical style! Why TMB chose him while there are tons of “real artits” in country? Anyway, Kazakhstan and Yakutia were my favs and Kazakhstan won! Congratulate them. I am love in Kazakh Turkic etnic music also 😉

  2. It’s silly to give a little points because of bad jury. As children in kindergarten -_- Turkey has good song on Turkvizyon in 2014.
I hope Turkey will return to the Eurovision Song Contest, they had better results and will never be underrated (except 2011).

    1. I agree with you, but in this very case the jury was at the same time the author of the Turkish song, so it may be that he gave low points in order to make better chances for Turkey to go to the finals, and such situation discriminated the contestant.

  3. I am not sure but did Uzbekistan give 10 points to all contestants and Romania give all contestants 9 points except Macedonia, Tatarstan and Bulgaria which they gave 10?
