Croatia has become the 16th country to confirm that they will participate in Junior Eurovision 2014, but has also confirmed today that they will not be participating in Eurovision 2015. Croatia is now the only country who currently participates in just the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and not the Eurovision Song Contest.
Croatia last took part in Junior Eurovision in 2006 having won the first ever contest in 2003 with Dino Jelusic and “Ti si moja prva ljubav”. Executive Supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev told JuniorEurovision.tv that:
To have the first ever winners of Junior Eurovision back in the competition is a happy moment for us all. It’s looking like we’re going to have 16 countries taking part this year, which is a great number and I’m very happy to welcome to many countries both into and back into the Junior Eurovision family.
In regards to Eurovision, Croatia last took part in the contest in 2013, they join Turkey, Andorra, Slovakia and the Czech Republic in not returning to the contest after taking part in recent years, as well as Ukraine who have withdrawn from next years contest.
