Macedonia Will Be In Austria!

FYR Macedonia have confirmed participation in Eurovision 2015, and will return to a national selection for the first time since 2011. Skopje Fest will be held on the 13th of November where 20 people will compete to represent Macedonia at Eurovision 2015 in Austria. There is also a cash incentive to take part in this years Skopje Fest, with cash prizes being awarded to those who finish in the top three places.

Mary Popova from MRT said that:

After conducting a survey on the website of MRT past month and a half, where as a public service to social responsibility have asked the opinion of the citizens of our (non) participation or mode of selection of the Macedonian representative at this prestigious event record number of voters who participated in the survey were quite divided on this issue. However, with the huge number of sound and constructive thinking by citizens, it seems that the public still does not want to give up on Eurovision and no matter what – have faith and desire to see Macedonia on the big stage, before the eyes of the European family and the world.

You can apply to take part on Skopje Fest from today until the 31st of July, rules can be found here.

FYR Macedonia debuted in Eurovision in 1998 when they were represented by Vlado Janevski who finished in 19th place. Their best result came in 2006 when Elena Risteska came 12th in Athens with her song “Ninanajna”.

  1. If Tijana had better staging and a better voice, I think Macedonia would’ve qualified and maybe even ended in the Top 10. Hopefully, they send a beautiful Balkan ballad this year. We saw how that ended with Montenegro and I think it could happen with Macedonia too.

  2. NFs are getting earlier and earlier nowadays… Now we even get a NF before it’s JESC time! Awesomeness! 😀

  3. I like selections before christmas! I was a bit disappointed last year when Ukraine was the only country that choosed song before christmas eve!
