According to the Italian Eurovision site Eurofestivalnews.com, it looks more or less certain that Italy will be debuting in this years contest in Malta. According to the site discussions are taking place in Naples alongside an EBU meeting. Yesterday it was revealed that two Big Five nations were in discussions with the EBU about taking part in this years contest, with Italy being a clear favourite to debut.
RAI’s debut would see only the third song in Italian make it to the Junior Eurovision stage after Switzerland in 2004 and San Marino in 2013. It is believed that SMtv’s debut in Junior Eurovision last year was RAI taking a look at the contest through it’s smaller sister broadcaster, before taking the plunge this year.
An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks about Italian participation.
