Ovi Is Unhappy With The New Agreement

Ovi who represented Romania this year alongside Paula Seling has spoken out about the new agreement between Universal Music and the EBU. Ovi has said that due to the agreement his song “Miracle” has not had the same benefit to him as their 2010 entry “Playing With Fire”. Sales of “Miracle” as a single now head to Universal instead of his record label Dawork, he told that he had “lost a significant amount of money” as a result.

Ovi went on to say that:

Miracle has already exceeded the number of listening / downloads on iTunes, Spotify, etc., to “Playing with Fire” in 2010. If these amounts should be came straight to me, my single would have acquired platinum. We receive only 20% of these sales, unfortunately.

Ovi is one of a number of artists across Europe to voice their anger at the new deal, a number of labels in Norway have said they will not take part in Eurovision as a result:
