Michael Von Der Heide who represented Switzerland at Eurovision 2010 has received 5000 Francs compensation from the Swiss tabloid Blick. The paper after Von Der Heide’s failure to qualify for the final ran an article which was deemed by the Swiss Federal Courts to be Homophobic.
The story was said to have caused “psychological suffering” for Micheal Von Der Heide, as the article was based around the singers sexuality. The singer has been subject to a lot of media coverage due to his sexuality, prefers not to talk to the media about being gay, as he feels that it distracts from his music.
