With just under 2 weeks to go to Turkvizyon 2013, we caught up with the representative from Belarus Gunesh Abasova, to talk about the contest and her song. Here is what she had to say:
Of course I am happy to be the first official representative of the Republic of Belarus at the Turkvision Song Contest. In our country this event, this contest have already widely covered in the mass media. Also I have already received congratulations from my colleagues, they wished me good luck!
Many people will know you from your participation in Belarus’ Eurovision selections, what made you take on Turkvision?
Participation in Belarusian selection round of the Eurovision song contest – “Eurofest” became a really good school for me. I participated in the selection 5 times and every time “EuroFest” was a really important and interesting event for me and for my creative team. Every time I had a serious task to surprise the audience with new images, songs and shows.
Turkvision for me is like a new step in the creative development, as well as the opportunity to perform to a wide audience. I hope the public will like my performance.
Your song is called “Son Hatiralar… ” which means “The Last Memories“, can you tell us more about it?
When journalists ask me – what can Belarus do to amaze audience at the contest in Turkey,I say – by means of author song in Turkish. I speak Turkish language fluently ; therefore it was not difficult for me to write the words. I already have experience of writing songs, also for Eurovision selection: I can live without you (2008), Fantastic girl (2009), Lady Emerald (2010). These songs became popular; I hope that “Son hatıralar” also will impress the audience. My song for Turkvision has a dramatic character, the lyrics reflect certain moments of my life.
What plans to do you have for your performance on the night?
I don’t want to reveal all the secrets of the performance. The only thing I can say that in the performance will be involved the ballet, which through the movements will reflect the meaning of my song.
Have you listened to any of the songs from the other participants and what do you think of them?
Unfortunately, due to the busy concert schedule and preparations for the contest, I have not been able to listen to songs of other participants. The only performance that I saw it is the performance of a participant from Azerbaijan Farid Hasanov. He is talented young singer, and I sincerely wish him a good luck.
What would it mean to you if you were to win Turkvision for Belarus?
I do not like to speak in advance. Only I can say it is that I am preparing very seriously.
When can we expect your song to be released?
We make the latest preparations at the studio. Release of the song will be very soon.
Finally do you have anything to say to the readers of Eurovoix.com?
I want to congratulate all the readers of Eurovoix.com with the coming holidays – Christmas and the New Year. May all your dreams and wishes come true! And, of course, watch the Turkvision and enjoy the contest!
