JESC’12: EBU Press Conference

Press Conference Held This Afternoon

The EBU held a press conference this afternoon in Amsterdam about Junior Eurovision. A representative from the host broadcaster AVRO and also from KidsRights were present.

Here are is a brief round up of the key details from the press conference:

  • Each countries jury will be made up of six music professional all of whom are adults.
  • The kids jury will be made up by one child from each participating country, their scores will be added up to provide the kids vote.
  • During the show there will be a five minute ‘story telling’ asking the participants how they feel before the performances starts.
  • Australia will once again  be showing the contest on SBS at a later date.
  • Sieste Bakker will be stepping down as Executive Supervisor of the contest and will be replaced by Valdislav Yakovlev who is currently in charge of Eurovision Young Musicians/Dancers.
  • The host nation of 2013 has yet to be decided
  • Albania has had to change outfits as it “did not meet the ethical standard of the competition”, the head of delegation has agreed to this.
  • Mr Bakker has also made it clear that outfits cannot be changed between the jury and live show, which means that we will not see a repeat of Georgia last year.
