It’s just two days till the the 2012 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and it’s time today to bring you the next five facts that you may not have known about JESC. So here we go:

  1. The 2004 contest was actually due to be hosted by the United Kingdom in Manchester however they cancelled the hosting due to scheduling issues, this meant the contest was offered to Croatia who took the contest but did not realise their planned venue was already booked. In the end the contest ended up in Lillehammer, Norway.
  2. All three of the Sandén sisters have represented Sweden at Junior Eurovision. Molly can 3rd in Romania, Frida came 8th in the Netherlands and Mimmi 6th in Ukraine. Between them they scored Sweden a total of 267 points.
  3. In the 10 years that Belgium has been taking part in Junior Eurovision they have never made it into the top.3.
  4. In 2004 when Switzerland took part in the contest for their one and only time, they received just 4 points. These 4 points came from just one country, Malta.
  5. Greece took part in JESC six times, they withdrew from the contest after the 2008 contest. At the time they said the viewing figures were too low and that they objected to using children in the contest. They later officially withdrew due to the economic crisis.
