Latvia: Eirodziesma Opens Back Up To Foreign Composers

New Rules For 2013

LTV have today announced their plans for their 2013 selection process. And for the 14th year Eirodziesma will be the method that they will use to select their Eurovision entrant. However there are some changes such as the rule change now enabling foreign composers to take part, but all participants must still have Latvian citizenship.

The show will be split over 2 semi finals held in Riga’s Palladium Concert Hall on the 8th and 9th of February. The final will then be held in the coastal town of Ventspils on February the 16th.

For fans there is the hope that this new change in rules will enable Latvia to make it back into the Finals after 4 years of non-qualification and now over a decade since they won the contest in 2002.
