Mei Finegold will sing “Same Heart” at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest for Israel. The announcement came in Kdam 2014 tonight in which the three songs for the contest were shown while Mei was interviewed by Ofer Nachshon the Israeli Eurovision spokesperson. The songs were:
- Nish’eret iti (Staying with me) - (Music: Loren de Paz & Chen Metzger Eder, Lyrics: Loren de Paz)
- Same heart – (Music & Lyrics: Rami Talmid)
- Be proud – (Music & Lyrics: Mei Finegold)
The songs were presented on February 27th and up until this evening the Israeli public could vote for the song they wanted to see in Copenhagen. This year saw the removal of a jury from the decision process meaning the song was selected 100% by the Israeli televote.
Mei rose to fame in Israel when she took part in Kokhav Nolad in 2009, where she ended in third place. She was internally selected by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority in January. The decision this year by IBA was to scrap the open national final, Kdam which in 2013 failed to bring Israeli qualification for the final for the third year in a row.
